BOTOX

DERMA FILLERS AND BOTOX TREATMENTS IN WIMBLEDON

What is Botox?

Botox is used for treating some muscular conditions medically and removing wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles temporarily. It is usually made from a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

How does Botox work?

Botulinum toxin is a therapeutic protein and has attained great success in aesthetic application over the years.

It is used in small concentrations, as large doses are lethal, that work by preventing the signals from nerve cells to reach the muscles, thus paralyzing them.

The nerves produce a chemical known as acetylcholine or a neurotransmitter, where nerve endings get together with muscle cells so that the muscles contract. Acetylcholine attaches to the receptors on muscle cells and thus, causes muscle cells to shorten or contract.

Injected botulinum toxin stops releasing acetylcholine by preventing the contraction of muscle cells. Botulinum toxin causes a decrease in the abnormal muscle contraction, allowing muscles to become less stiff.
